Why the Boat Tour is Unbeatable
Sure, you could view the lights from shore or by car—but you'd be missing the full experience. The Christmas lights of Huntington Harbour are designed to be viewed from the water. Many homes have displays that face the harbor, invisible from the street.
From your boat, you'll glide past illuminated palm trees, animated displays, projected shows on the water, and homes decked out from dock to rooftop. The reflection of lights dancing on the water creates a truly magical atmosphere.
- See displays invisible from land
- No traffic, no parking headaches
- Bring hot cocoa, snacks & holiday cheer
- Private experience for your group
- Beautiful light reflections on the water
The Cruise of Lights Experience
Huntington Harbour's annual Cruise of Lights is a beloved tradition that's been running for over 60 years. While organized boat tours are available, renting your own Duffy gives you the ultimate experience—freedom to go at your own pace, stop at your favorite displays, and enjoy holiday music and treats with your crew.
- Over 100 decorated waterfront homes
- Animated displays and projection shows
- Musical accompaniment at many homes
- The famous Peter Pan House and more
- New surprises every year
Many families make this an annual tradition—booking the same night each year and bringing multiple generations out for a floating holiday celebration!
Timing Your Tour
The Christmas lights are best viewed after dark, but we recommend booking a sunset departure. This way, you'll enjoy the beautiful golden hour as you head out, watch the sun set over the harbor, and then cruise into the magical evening as homes light up one by one.
Most displays run from early December through New Year's. Peak nights are December 15-25, when all homes are lit and decorated. For a less crowded experience, try weeknights or early December.
Pro tip: Book a 2-hour rental minimum during the holiday season. This gives you time to see all the displays without rushing!
